An immunohistochemical study of thyroglobulin and keratin production capacities in mixed thyroid papillary carcinoma

Abstract

|
15´ cases of thyroid papillary carcinoma were studied for thyroglobulin and keratin staining, using the indirect immunoperoxidase method on serial formalin fixed paraffin embedded sections. In mixed papillary-follicular areas, the reaction for keratin was much stronger in papillary portions than in the follicular components. These areas showed a almost opposite staining pattern for thyroglobulin, which was strong in the follicula components, and keratin, which was strong in the papillary portions.
